This Privacy Policy explains how Practice Test Builder, operated by Gurwinder Singh (“Practice Test Builder”, “we”, “us” or “our”), collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit practicetestbuilder.com, create an account, purchase or download a product, activate or update the Practice Test Builder Pro plugin, subscribe to marketing, or contact us.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to the Practice Test Builder website, WooCommerce store, customer accounts, digital downloads, support communications and our Pro plugin licensing and update service. It does not govern a separate website operated by a customer who installs our plugin. A customer operating a website with our plugin is responsible for providing an appropriate privacy notice to that website’s administrators, teachers, students and other users.
2. Personal data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact data: name, email address, username, billing address, country, state, postal code and any contact details you provide.
- Account data: account identifier, encrypted password credentials managed by WordPress, account preferences and login activity.
- Order and transaction data: products ordered, order number, price, currency, taxes, payment status, transaction reference, refund information and download history.
- Payment-related data: information needed to complete and reconcile a payment. Razorpay processes payment credentials. We do not intend to store complete card numbers, CVV values, UPI PINs or online-banking passwords on our servers.
- License and update data: Pro license key, licensed product, customer email, activation status, activation limit, website domain, plugin version, activation and deactivation events, expiry information, request time and request IP address. The Pro plugin may contact practicetestbuilder.com when a customer activates, validates or deactivates a license and when it checks for an update.
- Support and correspondence data: emails, support requests, refund requests, diagnostic information and files or screenshots you choose to provide.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, cookie identifiers and interactions with our website or advertisements.
- Marketing data: newsletter subscription status, campaign interactions and advertising or cookie preferences.
3. How we collect data
We collect data directly from you when you register, purchase, download, activate a license, request support or subscribe to communications. We also collect limited data automatically through server logs, essential cookies and, where permitted by your cookie choices, analytics and advertising technologies. We may receive payment and transaction confirmations from Razorpay and order information through WooCommerce.
4. How and why we use personal data
We use personal data to:
- create and manage customer accounts;
- process orders, payments, refunds, invoices and taxes;
- deliver digital downloads through WooCommerce My Account and transactional email;
- issue, activate, validate, deactivate and administer Pro license keys;
- provide eligible plugin updates and protect download links from unauthorised access;
- provide support, investigate delivery problems and respond to complaints;
- maintain website security, prevent fraud, enforce activation limits and protect our legal rights;
- measure website performance and improve our products and user experience;
- send newsletters or promotional messages when you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law;
- measure and personalise advertising when you have given any consent required for such processing; and
- comply with accounting, tax, consumer-protection, court and other legal obligations.
Depending on your location and the circumstances, we rely on performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, consent, and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving our business. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
5. Payments through Razorpay
Payments are processed by Razorpay. Razorpay may collect identifiers, billing information, payment and transaction data, device information and other information needed to process the payment, prevent fraud and meet regulatory obligations. Razorpay’s handling of that data is governed by its own notices, including the Razorpay Buyer Privacy Notice and Razorpay Privacy Policy.
6. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses essential cookies and similar storage needed for WordPress, WooCommerce cart and checkout functions, account login, security, fraud prevention and your privacy choices. These technologies are required for services you request.
Subject to applicable law and your consent choices, we may also use:
- Google Analytics to understand website traffic and usage;
- Google Ads to measure advertising performance and, where enabled, support remarketing;
- Meta Pixel to measure campaigns and, where enabled, create or reach advertising audiences; and
- email newsletter technology to manage subscriptions and measure delivery or engagement.
These providers may receive cookie identifiers, IP address, device/browser data, page and event information, approximate location and advertising interactions. Where consent is required, analytics, advertising and marketing cookies should remain disabled until you choose to accept them. You can change or withdraw your choice through the website’s cookie settings. You can also adjust browser controls, although blocking essential cookies may prevent the cart, checkout or account from working correctly.
7. Marketing communications
Transactional messages about accounts, orders, downloads, licenses, security, refunds and support are not marketing and may be sent when necessary to provide the service. Promotional newsletters are optional. You may unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop necessary transactional communications.
8. When we share personal data
We may share only the data reasonably necessary with:
- Razorpay, banks, payment networks and fraud-prevention providers;
- website hosting, security, backup, email and support-service providers;
- analytics, advertising and newsletter providers, subject to applicable consent requirements;
- professional advisers such as accountants, auditors, lawyers or insurers;
- government, tax, regulatory, law-enforcement or judicial authorities where legally required; and
- a successor in connection with a genuine business restructuring, acquisition or transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal data for money. Some advertising disclosures may be treated as “sharing” or targeted advertising under certain privacy laws; where applicable, we provide the required notice and choice.
9. International processing
Because we sell internationally and use global technology providers, personal data may be processed in India or other countries. Where required, we use contractual or other recognised safeguards for international transfers. Local privacy protections may differ from those in your country.
10. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including the duration of your account or commercial relationship and any additional period required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, license administration, security or legal compliance. Marketing data is retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, subject to a limited suppression record so we can respect that choice. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer required, unless retention is required or permitted by law.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect personal data, such as access controls, encryption in transit where supported, restricted administrative access and security monitoring. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Customers are responsible for protecting their passwords, license keys and account access and should notify us promptly of suspected misuse.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request information about processing; access, correct or erase personal data; withdraw consent; object to or restrict certain processing; request portability; opt out of targeted advertising; or lodge a complaint with an appropriate authority. You may also nominate another individual or exercise grievance rights where provided by Indian data-protection law.
To make a request, email support@practicetestbuilder.com from the email associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity. Certain data may be retained where required for legal obligations, fraud prevention, security, disputes or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
13. Children
Purchases and customer accounts are intended for persons who are at least 18 years old or otherwise legally capable of entering a binding contract. We do not knowingly invite children to purchase products or consent to advertising cookies. Educational institutions or adults using our products with students are responsible for obtaining any required parental consent and providing their own privacy information.
14. Third-party websites
Our website may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are controlled by their respective operators, and we encourage you to review their policies before providing personal data.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our services, providers or legal obligations. The updated version will be posted with a revised effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request fresh consent.
16. Privacy and grievance contact
Gurwinder Singh is the Privacy and Grievance Contact for Practice Test Builder. Complaints may be submitted by email. We aim to acknowledge a consumer grievance within 48 hours and resolve it within one month, subject to the nature and complexity of the matter.
